Good Questions, Honest Answers

Everything Springfield neighbors usually want to know before their first visit — and if we missed one, just call.

What areas around Springfield do you serve?

We're based in Springfield (62701) and cover about a 20-mile reach. That's the whole city, from Enos Park, Aristocracy Hill and downtown to Harvard Park, the Washington Park area, the Lake Springfield shoreline and the subdivisions on the far west side, plus Leland Grove, Jerome and Grandview inside the city's footprint. Outside town we regularly work in Chatham, Rochester, Sherman, Riverton, Williamsville, New Berlin and Auburn. If you're near the edge of that line, call and ask; a longer list usually makes the trip work.

Do you give free estimates?

Yes. For the typical job, a few snapshots and a short call are enough to set a price. Bigger jobs, or ones with more unknowns, get a no-cost visit to size them up. However we get there, the price is settled before a date is booked.

Do you charge by the hour or by the job?

Most of the time we set one price for the whole job, so you know the total before work begins. For open-ended punch lists we'll agree on a rate and a rough scope together, so there's no surprise at the end. If the work goes quicker than expected, the bill reflects that.

Are your pros licensed and insured?

Yes. The work is done by insured local pros who hold the licenses and registrations required in Illinois for the job at hand, so electrical and plumbing connections are handled by licensed tradespeople. Ask us anything before we start.

What kinds of jobs do you handle?

The everyday repair and upkeep list: drywall and plaster patches, door adjustments, TV and shelf mounting, furniture assembly, ceiling fans and light fixtures, dimmers, smart switches, hardwired doorbells and thermostats, faucet, toilet and disposal repairs and replacements, fence and gate fixes, gutter cleaning, pressure washing, paint touch-ups, garage storage and seasonal maintenance. Put every item on the list, however small, and we'll plan a single trip that covers it.

Can you get my house ready for winter?

That's one of our most useful visits. In October and early November we clean gutters after the leaves come down, check that downspouts carry water well away from the foundation, re-caulk gaps around windows and trim, adjust door sweeps and weatherstripping, shut off and drain outdoor faucets, and test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms before the furnace season gets going. It beats finding a frozen hose bib or an ice dam in January.

Do you work on older homes near downtown?

Yes, and we enjoy it. A lot of Springfield's housing near the Capitol, in Enos Park and around Lincoln Park dates to the 1800s and early 1900s. That means plaster walls, tall doors that have settled over a century, old window trim and sometimes older wiring. We work with those materials rather than against them, and if we find something in an old wall that needs attention, we show you before we go further.

Can I text you a photo of the problem?

Please do. Send a close shot and a wide shot with a line of explanation, and that's normally enough to understand the job and often to quote it firmly. It also means we arrive with the right parts on the first trip instead of coming back.

How far out are you booked?

Small jobs can often be fit in within the week. Bigger lists may take a little longer to schedule, because we block enough time to finish everything in one visit instead of leaving you half done. We give you a real arrival window, not an all-day wait, and call ahead if we're running behind.

Got a list? Let's shorten it.

One quick call or text gets you a real price and a real arrival time — usually within the week.
